There have been intelligence inputs that country’s dreaded militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is planning to abduct Pakistan’s former military ruler Parvez Musharraf, who is presently under detention.

Islamabad, April 26/Nationalturk – The security apparatus in and around the farmhouse, where Pakistan’s former military ruler is under detention, has been beefed up following intelligence inputs that country’s dreaded militant outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is planning to abduct Parvez Musharraf.

Pakistan’s TV channel, Geo News quoting sources reported that Pakistan’s intelligence agencies have issued advisory related to the former President General (retired) Pervez Musharraf, who has been detained as his farmhouse in Islamabad.

“According to the advisory, TTP has hatched a plot to kidnap Musharraf with the help of local jehadi elements. The attempt to kidnap Musharraf would be made while he is being shifted to court from his farm house, which has been converted into a sub-jail,” the news channel reported.

Sources said Intelligence agencies don’t know the time and place when/where this plot would be executed by TTP militant.

“Following the intelligence inputs, Musharraf’s protection and security has been beefed up. The security around his Chak Shahzad farmhouse, where he has been detained has also been beefed up,” they said.

Court gives Musharraf’s physical custody to FIA

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) today gave the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) physical remand of  Musharraf in the Benazir Bhutto murder case.

The retired General, who is already serving a two-week house arrest, set to expire on May 4 for sacking judges when he imposed emergency rule in November 2007, was presented before the ATC this morning where he was served the fresh remand order which he will serve concurrently.

He is accused of conspiracy to murder former prime minister Benazir Bhutto, who died in December 2007. It is one of the three cases he is fighting in the courts since returning home last month after four years in self-imposed exile.

FIA had arrested Pervez Musharraf in Benazir Bhutto murder case yesterday. The formal proceedings for the arrest were completed by the FIA Deputy Director at Musharraf’s farmhouse in Chak Shahzad which has been declared sub-jail.

Sources said during the interrogation, the former president was asked why Benazir Bhutto was not provided security upon her return to Pakistan, to which Musharraf replied that she was provided complete security.

Musharraf also refused to accept the allegations against him and said Benazir Bhutto became the target of terrorists.

The former president of Pakistan has been barred by country’s Election Committing from running in next month’s general election on May 11.
