Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Another suffering of Madrid by Barca, Pepe stomps Messi's hand

Mourinho’s Real Madrid nightmare vs Barcelona seems to last for a while, as Real Madrid vs Barcelona Copa del Rey game at Bernabéu ended in another defeat of Real Madrid by two second half goals from Barca defenders Puyol and Abidal.

Madrid / NationalTurk – The Barcelona nightmare continues for José Mourinho’s Real Madrid. There were familiar feelings at Copa del Rey first leg clash Real Madrid vs Barcelona : defeat and impotence. Barcelona got the 2-1 victory but it was about more than the result, secured with second half goals from the Barca defenders Carles Puyol and Eric Abidal; it was about the feeling this El Clasico left, the palpable difference between Real Madrid and Barcelona. A difference of tactics, mentality, quality and philosophy.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona: Another suffering of Madrid by Barca

Real Madrid coach Mourinho tried something not completely different and it still did not work again. Yet another formula Mourinho seems to be running out of yet another failure. When the whistle went at full-time it was met with timid whistles from the Real Madrid fans. They could muster little more. Nor, ultimately, could Real Madrid players and staff, at top of them Jose Mourinho. Real Madrid is losing the last shards of confidence, self dignity and hope vs Barcelona, if they haven’t lost it completely already.

Mourinho fails again to break the Barcelona dominance over Real Madrid

Jose Mourinho was brought to Real Madrid to reachieve what he did at Inter Milan: defeat Barcelona. He has now had the chance to beat Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona nine times and he managed doing it just once – in extra time. The aggregate score stands Real Madrid vs Barcelona 9 to 19. In five Bernabéu games against Mourinho era Madrid, Barcelona remain unbeaten.

“To come and win so often is not normal,” said Guardiola trying to sound humble. The fact is it is easy and normal for Barcelona to humiliate Real Madrid in front oh their supporters. Madrid have not beaten Barcelona at home since 2008. Mourinho must start to take some of the blame. Here, he did. “Victory has many fathers, defeat has just one – and that’s me,” he said.

It does not seem to matter what Madrid try or what they spend, the result remains the same. Mourinho opted for an unexpected starting XI, with Hamit Altintop and Ricardo Carvalho, plus Pepe along with Lass Diarra and Xabi Alonso in midfield. Pepe’s only contribution of note was to tread on Lionel Messi’s hand and maybe not succeeding in other attempts at being kicked out of the game. Hamit, the Turkish international forgot he was playing full back position in Barca’s second goal.

Lets Kick Pepe out of Football / Wayne Rooney tweets :Pepe. What an idiot

Both managers stated they had not seen the incident where Pepe deliberately stomped on Messi’s hand but Jose Mourinho did admit that if Pepe had done it on purpose, it would be worthy of criticism and disciplinary action against him. Pepe, the vicious footballer, who looks like a butcher more than a footballer picked up his eighth yellow card in 11 Clásicos. He was fortunate for not having seen a red.

Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney summarized what Pepe can be best described as with his tweet : “Pepe. What an idiot.”

Real Madrid players frustration was something they vented on Lionel Messi as Pepe, Alonso and Coentrao took their turn tormenting and even abusing Messi, who looked at times like a child victim.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona : The game

Cristiano Ronaldo put Real Madrid ahead in the 11th minute on a counterattack with his 27th goal of the season with friendly support from Barca’s goalkeeper Pinto. Cristiano Ronaldo struck a low, hard left-footed shot that flew past José Pinto, close to his body. The concerns surrounding the Barcelona keeper, first choice in the Cup, seemed justified.

As the game continued Madrid’s fans were getting twitchy: for Real Madrid’s back passes were getting longer, the clearances coming straight back, the team dropping deeper.

“We got to halftime without conceding and the result was in our favor,” Casillas said. “But in the second half another set play hurt us. We’ve had problems with these.”

And although Barcelona were not finding a clear way through in the opening 45 minutes, the start of the second half heralded what was to come. Barca did it, when a corner from the right floated towards the edge of the six-yard box and CharlesPuyol, all alone, dived in to heading the equaliser into Madrid net. It was his first goal since Oct. 16, 2010.

“You cannot concede a goal like that from a dead ball when you are 1-0 up. Psychologically, that was bad for us and good for Barcelona.” said Mourinho. The problem with that discourse is that if the result shifted, the pattern of the game did not really.”What I didn’t expect was that a team winning 1-0 should allow an equalizer through a set play. A team that wants to beat Barcelona cannot allow such a goal,” Mourinho said. “The series is till open, but it’s very difficult for us.”

Abidal gave Barcelona control of the home-and-home, total-goals series in the 77th when he chested down a scooped pass from Messi, who played his 300th game for Barcelona. Messi clipped a wonderful pass to Eric Abidal, making a perfectly timed run behind Altintop. The Frenchman brought it down and struck cleanly beyond Iker Casillas. That feeling again. Receiving the ball inside the penalty area, Abidal flicked a left-footed shot under goalkeeper Casillas. It was just his second goal for Barcelona, his first since Jan. 5, 2011.

Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola’s birthday present : Another Real Madrid scalp

So Barcelona players gave their coach Pep Guardiola, who celebrated his 41th birthday, the best birthday present. A victory at a Copa del Rey game vs Real Madrid. “We wanted long periods of possession and control and we got that. I think we played very, very, very well,” stated Pep Guardiola.

Mostly Madrid continued to wait; mostly they found no way out. The problem is that if you keep waiting for Barcelona, their control grows and the logical outcome is that they will eventually arrive – even if they are in no hurry. And with 13 minutes to go, they did.

The second leg of Copa del Rey Quartal finals is next Wednesday night at Barcelona, the ninth “el clasico” between the arch rivals Barcelona vs Real Madrid in nine months.

  2. Just go out and play. If Real Madrid wants to win, show some class. Barcelona plays clean. Real Madrid doesn’t. When the chips are down, the desperation kicks inn. They lose their heads and the dirtyness comes out. Barcelona is just a better team.
