First time that Deobandi ulemas have declared suicide bombing un-Islamic

It is for the first time that the Deoband school of thought in Pakistan has declared suicide bombings as un-Islamic.

“Just formal condemnation of terrorism was not enough. Now was the time for the scholars to come out and defend Madaris (seminaries) against the propaganda that these were the sanctuaries of terrorism,” they said.

The edict of the ulemas of Deeband school of thought carries added significance as Pakistan’s notorious militant group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) also belongs to Deoband school of thought.

The religious scholars of Deoband school of thought have already declared illegal the armed struggle against the state of Pakistan.
