A shoe was thrown towards the former Pakistani military ruler Parvez Musharraf by a lawyer in Pakistan today.

Islamabad, March 29/Nationalturk – A shoe was thrown towards the former Pakistani military ruler Parvez Musharraf by a lawyer in premises of a court in Pakistan on Friday.

Musharraf appeared before Sindh High Court today to seek extension in pre-emptive bail. While being taken to the court by his security men and supporters, Musharraf faced a group of lawyers, who were protesting against him and chanted slogans against him.

During the protest, one of the lawyer  threw a shoe towards Musharraf, which missed the target and fell in the crowd in front of him. Footage on TV showed the shoe flying through the air and landing in a group of people in front of Musharraf. The man was later arrested by Pakistan Rangers, who were deployed in the court.

Court extended Musharraf’s interim bail by 21 days

Meanwhile, the Sindh High Court accepted Musharraf’s request and extended his interim bail by up to 21 days. However, the court barred him from leaving the country till the hearing of his case.

The former president said he was satisfied with the court’s decision and respects the judiciary and will face all cases against him the courts.

Musharraf had seized power in Pakistan a military coup in 1999 but was forced to step down nearly a decade later, He returned home from four years in self-imposed exile on March 24 and is facing cases related to killing of Benazir Bhutto, sacking of judges and the 2006 killing of a Baloch leader Nawab Akbar Bugti. He has returned to country to contest elections to be held in May this year. He has launched a political party – All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) – which he has said, will contest the elections.

Political observers said APML won’t make any impact in the elections but were of the opinion that Musharraf’s party may win couple of seats.
