Turkey has sought increased air connectivity with India and demanded increase in number of flights operating between the two countries.

New Delhi, June 17/Nationalturk – In order to enhance trade ties between the two countries,  Turkey has sought increased air connectivity with India and demanded increase in number of flights operating between the two countries.

Turkey’s envoy to India, Dr Burak Akcapar called on Indian Minister of Civil Aviation,  P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju in Indian capital, New Delhi. The two leaders discussed issues of mutual interest.

During his talks with Indian civil aviation minister, Turkey’ envoy stressed on the need to increase air connectivity between Turkey and India. He demanded increase in number of flights operating between the two countries.

‘Provide connectivity to us in different states of India’

Akcapar urged Indian civil aviation minister to provide connectivity to Turkey to different States in India for the promotion of trade and tourism.

The Indian Minister agreed to study the issues raised by Turkish envoy.

The bilateral trade between the two countries stood at USD 4.5 billion in 2011-12.  Turkish leaders have been stressing that huge opportunities exist for Indian business community in Turkey in sectors like infrastructure, IT and automobile.

Major imports from Turkey comprise minerals, fertilisers, and machinery, while exports include pharma, manmade yarn and electronic goods.
