Turkey’s PM Tayyip Erdogan slams Turkish drama series Magnificent Century : Those are not our ancestors !
Turkey’s Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan is furious about the historical Turkish TV series Magnificent Century which he claims to have distorted Ottoman history.
Ankara / NationalTurk – ‘These portrayal of Suleyman the magnificent and the sultans and sons are not our ancestors who have been portrayed in this TV series,’ Tayyip claimed during the inauguration of an airport in Kutahya Province, 190 miles west of the capital Ankara. Tayyip Erdogan showed his disdain of the hit TV-show which chronicles the life of Suleiman the Magnificent, who ruled the Ottoman Empire in its golden age, has also gained popularity in the Arab World, but according to Turkey Prime Minister Erdogan, the series has tarnished the image of the 16th century longest-reigning Ottoman emperor, Sultan Suleiman, Suleiman the Magnificent.
In the TV series, started in 2010, scenes which have particularly offended show a young and lusty sultan cavorting in the harem and drinking goblets of wine. These pleasures were frowned upon by the Muslim faithful for whom the Ottomon sultan had religious as well as temporal authority.
“We live in a seven-billion-people strong world and we know our role. We go to every place that our ancestors reached on their horsebacks, and we care about these regions,” Tayyip Erdogan stated.
During the emperor’s reign, the Ottoman Empire reached its zenith, he added. “Süleyman spent 30 years of his life on the horseback, fighting wars and conquering cities.’ But apparently Tayyip has no clue how Süleyman the magnificent becomes the father of more than 20 sond and daughters ?

The Turkish Prime Sinister said he is pursuing a legal case against the TV directors of the Turkish drama.
Known as the “Lawgiver” among Turks, Suleiman is regarded as a sacred character, whose rule from 1520 to 1566 marked the height of the Ottoman military, political and economic power, when it stretched from Budapest to Mecca, Algiers to Baghdad.

This is a TV drama not a documentary of the scholarly kind. Ayip Erdogan has no legal or moral grounds to take any action of any kind. And if Ayip Erdogan is interested in facts he should understand there isn’t a single fact or evidence that God even exists. Ayip Erdogan is behaving like a child.
it certainly has distorted the shape of the leaders from real brave and respectful men to I DON”T EVEN KNOW what they’re trying to make them look like
Yes the history has been obstructed, Though i like the TV show very much but despite its awesomeness the show writers must admit that they have tempered the image of real characters very badly..
yes this drama is distorting a golden era of muslim history. not only Erdogan but als we the muslim of all the world slam it.
As I have searched about ottomans history,tnis series is showing the truth. And I am wondering why Mr Erdogan is trying to ban the truth. I think it was not his fault if king Suleiman did a big mistake and lost his magnificiancy by killing his Son.
I definitly think that Mr Erdogan is right ,not that I don’t like Turkeys drama ,but were talking about history that been dameged bad and I don;t think it’s fair
