Turkish Airlines crowned : Best Airline Europe 2011

Turkey’s national carrier was named the best airline in Europe at the 2011 World Airline Awards at the French Air and Space Museum.

Over 18.8 million airline passengers from 100 different nationalities voted and Turkish Airlines (THY) was awarded the “Best Airline Europe” prize by Skytrax, the world’s largest airline review site, in recognition of the quality of its in-cabin service and the range of locations it flies to in the European aviation sector. THY also won the “World’s Best Premium Economy Class Airline Seat” and “Best Airline Southern Europe” awards. The runners-up were Swiss International Air Lines, ahead of Germany’s Lufthansa in third position in the best European airline category.

Turkish Airlines invest in quality, gets feedback in awards

Skytrax’s CEO Edward Plaisted praised THY in a statement on the company’s awards website. “Turkish Airlines continues to invest in quality product and service concepts and this has been key in their success at this year’s awards. We have witnessed a steady rise up the global rankings for Turkish, and this has seen them enter the top 10 (ninth) for the first time. To secure the award for Best Premium Economy Seat indicates that Turkish Airlines is providing passengers with a world class onboard experience.”
