Turkish fighter jets hit PKK targets in southeast

Turkish fighter jetTurkish jets carried out airstrikes on suspected Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) targets in southeastern Sirnak province, Turkish military said Tuesday.

“Two F-16 jets targeted two Dochka [anti-aircraft gun] positions belonging to the separatist terror organization,” said the General Staff in a statement on its official website, in reference to the PKK.

According to Anadolu Agency, The operation follows a string of attacks against Turkish security forces Monday, which killed six personnel.

In the southeastern province of Sirnak, four policemen were killed and another officer was wounded in a roadside bomb attack.

Another soldier was killed in an attack carried out by PKK militants on a military helicopter in Beytussebap district.

An attack on a police station in Istanbul early Monday left one police officer dead and wounded at least 11 people, including four other police officers.

Turkey, the U.S. and the EU listed the PKK as a terrorist organization.
