Two blasts hit Brussels airport / Breaking News

Two explosions rocked Zaventem airport in Brussels Tuesday morning, which according to preliminary reports, left several casualties, local media reports said.

The cause of the explosion is currently unclear.

Belgian daily Le Soir reported that there are several people injured, but it did not specify the exact number. Belgian public broadcaster RTBF reported that the airport has been evacuated. Footage from the airport shared on social media and television news network showed a plume of black smoke rising into the sky, as people fled.

The two blasts come four days after a massive counter-terrorism raid in Brussels which led to the capture of Paris attacks suspect Saleh Abdeslam Friday.

At least 13 people were killed and 35 others were injured when two blasts hit Zaventem airport in Brussels Tuesday, Belgian public broadcaster VRT reported.

Hours later, a separate blast hit Maelbeek metro station, located close to EU institutions in Brussels. Terror threat level in Brussels has been raised to the highest, local media reported.
