Two extra goal line officials to be used in Champions League

The 2010-11 champions League season will have two extra officials on the goal line said the International Football Association Board (IFAB).

England were denied a crucial goal in the World Cup against Germany when Frank Lampard's spectacular shot went at least a feet into the goal but was not given.

The new refereeing system will be tried for two seasons before the IFAB make a decision on whether to continue with the extra officials.

The two extra referee system had been introduced in the Europa League last season where it had mixed reviews but was generally excepted by the fans and clubs.

The new system will also be introduced in tournaments in Asia and South Africa.

Sepp Blatter, the president of FIFA had been confronted by sports fans and clubs to bring in goal line technology in the games after errors were made by officials in major tournaments such as the 2010 World Cup.

However Blatter is known to be against goal line technology as it takes away the excitement of the game and takes away, what parts football from other major sports in the world.

Many had criticized Blatter and past presidents for not introducing goal line technology where referee’s will be able to get support to see if the ball went over the line or not.

What do you think? would you like goal line technology to be introduced? and do you believe the two extra officials will help the referees?
