2 U.S employees shot dead by Mexican drug cartel

Two U.S. consulate workers were shot dead in their car in which officials call a drive by shooting. The couples seven-month old baby was in the car while the parents were riddled with bullets after a childrens birthday party.

Officials at the U.S. consulate in Ciudad Juarez/Mexico were told to leave the country after the fatal shooting of employees Arthur Redelfs and his wife Lesley Enriquez, 35.

The bodies of the couple were found with multiple bullets in the head and neck areas.

The baby was found in the back of the car after passers by heard the cries. The baby has been handed over to Mexican social services and will be handed over to relatives.

US couple shot dead in MexicoU.S. President, Barrack Obama has said that he was “deeply saddened and outraged” of the heartless killings. Obama also added that the U.S government will work though out the investigation to bring the killers to justice.

After the murders of the U.S couple, eight FBI agents were sent to Ciudad Juarez to help in the hunt for the gun men.

The “hit men” are believed to belong to the Juarez drug cartel.

There has also been speculation that, recent extradition of Mexican drug lords to the U.S. could be the reason behind the shooting of Ms Enriquez and partner Arthur Redelfs.

There is an estimated 18,000 deaths linked to the drug war in Mexico since 2006.

Ciudad Juarez was known as one of the major areas where rival drug cartels have there conflict for route issues as the city is at the border of the U.S.
