Waterspout in Lisbon River caught on amateur camera

Lisbon  – A Vortex or commonly known as Waterspout formed in the River Tagus in Lisbon, on Wednesday was caught on amateur camera while frightened residents stood and watched the phenomenon rather then going to shelter.

The tornado like storm which occurs on water and is commonly smaller then an average tornado was captured on an amateur video camera and posted on popular video sharing sites.

Madalena Rodrigues, A meteorologist said “On the River Tagus what happened on Wednesday was a waterspout, which is a tornado that originates in the water, “

Waterspouts are known to occasionally suck up water, fish and other material and is commonly seen in the Caribbean though it can occur in European countries and any part of the world should the temperatures of the weather be ideal.

The weather warning was still on yesterday warning fisherman and other residents in Lisbon not to go out on open water.

The winds caused by the mini storm damaged roof tops of buildings, and smashed some glasses in homes and offices.
