Deniz Baykal’s Lawyar Muzaffer Yılmaz and Uğur Kurtulan, a representative of the National Criminal Burough (Ulusal Kriminal Bürosu) which is a private company has announced that the alleged sex tape was a fake.

The pair both spoke from an official report which is presumed to have been created according to the findings of the National Criminal Borough, a private investigations company. Uğur Kurtulan has also said that the report has been “given to the Ankara public prosecutor’s office”.

Kurtulan said that the “Forensic analysis of the copy (original not found yet) of the sex tape” which was first aired on a news website known for their closeness to the government and religious groups, on the 7th of April.

Baykal had resigned from his position as the leader of the Republican People’s Party, three days later.

Kurtulan also said that in many parts of the video, the man in the sitting room, and the man in the bedroom are different people. Kurtulan also states that “the ties of the men in both rooms on the video are of different colors,”

“The length of the trousers on the first and second parts of the video are both of different length,” said Kurtulan.

Another important note which Kurtulan made was that the naked woman seen on the tape with her back turned to the camera had the body structure of a 30 to 35-year-old woman. Nesrin Baytok is 50-years-old.

However the report made by the pair has aroused more questions than answers.

Why did not Baykal openly deny that he had an affair with Baytok.

After the small presentation and reports were handed out to the press at the conference both Muzaffer Yılmaz and Uğur Kurtulan answered questions from the press.

A reporter asked “Why did Baykal still not deny openly that it was not him on the tape?”

Muzaffer Yılmaz, the lawyer of Baykal replied “He (Baykal) openly said that the video was edited and distorted” which Baykal said at the press conference in which he announced his resignation.

However questions have been raised from this answer. Why would a politician who openly blamed the government for the video then resign from his position when he knew it was not him and the accusations were unfounded?

If the woman was not Nesrin Baytok in the sex scenes section of the tape, why did she not openly come out and deny that it was not her and instead decide to stay quite?

The information given in the press conference is incorrect.

Straight after the press conference, Prof. Dr. Sevil Atasoy, a forensics expert and former chair for the forensics institution, announced on NTV News agency that without the original video footage, no forensics report based on a copy of the video footage from the Internet can be taken seriously.

“Just like when you cannot make a forensics explanation on a copy of a signature and you require the original, the same thing goes for video footage,”

“You cannot say the video footage is fake by an analysis of the copy of the video” said Atasoy.
