Cancellation at short notice: That’s why the Queen does not take part in the service

It started so well: at the beginning of her jubilee, Queen Elizabeth II was still in good spirits. But she will now miss the planned service on Friday.

Contrary to plan, Queen Elizabeth II will not attend the thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. This is reported by the “Daily Mail”, citing Buckingham Palace. The fair takes place on Friday and is part of the celebrations of the monarch’s 70th jubilee.

According to the report, the Queen decided “with great reluctance” not to attend the service. “The Queen thoroughly enjoyed today’s parade and flyover, but felt some discomfort,” the palace said. Considering the travel and activity required to attend the fair, the Queen “decided with great reluctance” not to attend.

Thanks for “unforgettable occasion”

However, the monarch will attend Thursday night’s Bonfire celebrations from Windsor Castle and would like to thank everyone “for making today such a memorable occasion,” the palace said. The Bonfire Celebrations light a string of bonfires in honor of the Queen across Britain and Commonwealth cities. The tradition has been performed on royal anniversaries since the 19th century. Over 1,500 beacons are expected to burn this year.

Queen Elizabeth II has often had to deal with mobility problems in the past. Among other things, she had waived her speech at the opening of Parliament in May and instead had her son Prince Charles represent her. The Queen also refrained from arriving in the carriage during the parade on Thursday and instead only showed herself to the crowd from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
