Caribbean islands accessible by direct flight:

Cuba

Probably the most famous of the Caribbean islands. Cuba has always been a popular travel destination and a magical place that seems to have remained in the past. Cuba is one of the most impressive and diverse islands in the Caribbean. Discover the beautiful Spanish colonial city of Trinidad, the tobacco fields in Vinales, dance the night away in Havana and so many other great places to visit in Cuba. The island is packed with culture, history, outdoor adventures, beaches and many more things to do.

Dominican Republic

The Dominican Republic is one of the friendliest islands in the Caribbean. The distinctly Latino atmosphere is relaxed, the nightlife is exciting and the miles of snow-white sandy beaches offer something for everyone. Best of all, the Dominican Republic offers some of the best bargains in the Caribbean, from competitive flights to budget-friendly all-inclusive resorts. There is guaranteed to be something for everyone here!

Jamaica

There are several popular vacation areas in Jamaica, all with beautiful beaches and turquoise waters. The most famous beach in Jamaica is Seven Mile Beach in Negril, and as the name suggests, it’s seven miles of gorgeous white sand. Many get married or spend their honeymoon on the dream island of Jamaica. So if you’re looking for the perfect spot for your honeymoon on Paradise Island, head to the Sandals South Coast to stay in a dreamy over-the-water bungalow. Another popular spot is Ocho Rios, which is also home to many cruise ships each month. Dunn’s River Falls, the spectacular falls are a popular inland attraction, off the beaten track and surrounded by lush greenery.

Puerto Rico

A trip to Puerto Rico should start in Old San Juan, walking the cobblestone streets and seeing all the colorful buildings. Of course, the beaches in Puerto Rico will also amaze you. Visit Playa Flamenco, for example, which was voted the best beach in the region by Discovery Channel. You should also explore the tropical rainforest of El Yunque and marvel at the country’s many waterfalls and picturesque nature.

Granada

In the far south of the Caribbean, Grenada is known as “the Spice Island” for the fragrant nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, vanilla and cocoa that thrive in the fertile volcanic soil. If you’re looking for an authentic Caribbean experience, Grenada offers an appealing mix of local culture and colonial roots, as well as rainforests, lush mountains, colorful seaside villages and beautiful beaches!

Curacao

Just a stone’s throw from the Venezuelan coast, the dream island of Curaçao rises out of the Caribbean’s cobalt blue waters and welcomes visitors with colorful Dutch villas in Willemstad (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), rugged boulders and cliffs, and friendly sea turtles in Shete Boka National Park. Discover bustling harbors in Fort Amsterdam, floating markets on the coast and cactus-covered hills to wander inland. Not to forget the many dream beaches and the lively underwater world!

Barbados

In Barbados, waves pound the soft sands of Alleynes Bay or Brandons Beach like rhythmic samba beats. Palm trees sway in the Atlantic trade winds of the rugged east coast, wild surf sprinkles the boulders of Bathsheba and Cattlewash with salt and deep blue ocean water. A real dream destination!

Other Caribbean islands with their own airport that can be reached with a stopover:

Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe is located in the middle of the Lesser Antilles and is still an insider tip among the Caribbean islands. Shaped like a butterfly, the destination spreads its wings over two main islands: Basse Terre and Grande Terre. These are connected to a series of artificial land bridges, each offering a unique travel experience.

Bahamas

Spread over an insane 470,000 square kilometers between the beaches of Northern Cuba and the Lucayan Islands, the Bahamas connects the Caribbean Sea with the coastal regions of the United States – more precisely with the Sunshine State of Florida. Many of the islands have large and small airports, but the best way to get to the capital from Germany is Nassau, or Freeport.

3.Aruba

Its jewel-shaped island in the extreme south of the Caribbean is closer to the mainland than many other islands in the Caribbean. The weather here is unusually calm for the tropical location and is consistently warm and sunny for over 300 days a year. Aruba is spared from hurricanes and cyclones all year round and can therefore always be visited without a guilty conscience.

Martinique

Martinique is a magical place of virgin forests and soaring volcanic mountains, coastal hills and the occasional powdered bay where the Caribbean Sea beckons you to swim and snorkel. Martinique combines the beauty of the tropics with a touch of Europe as it is a French overseas territory.

St Maarten

The pretty island of St. Martin (Sint Maarten or Saint-Martin, depending on whether you’re coming from the north or south of the island) is hugely popular with cruise ships and sunbathers. Turquoise seas shimmer and shine in Orient Bay to the north, cocktails flow in Mullet Bay and pirate tracks still mark the pristine and secluded smuggler’s coves of Pinel Island to the east.

Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad and Tobago offers everything you could hope for from a Caribbean paradise: In Trinidad there are pristine mangrove swamps and rainforest hills for outdoor fans. Tobago offers lots of palm trees, white sand and everything that goes with it. Together, the country offers unparalleled bird watching, world-class diving and a lush jungle ideal for hiking and swimming in the idyllic waterfall and much more. There is also an exciting nightlife and a fabulous carnival, as well as delicious fresh seafood on every corner!

Cayman Islands

Around 2.5 million tourists visit the Cayman Islands every year. Most of them are cruise ship passengers who spend a few hours shopping, sunbathing or swimming with the many stingrays before leaving port. Others enjoy the famous Seven Mile Beach and the numerous all-inclusive resorts on some of the most beautiful sandy beaches in the Caribbean.

Haiti

The most common expression in Haiti is “pa gen pwoblem” meaning “no problem”. Haitians use it in many situations: to express gratitude, to show well-being, or simply to fill in an awkward silence. Despite Haiti’s many problems, recently exacerbated by natural disasters, proud Haitians use the phrase sincerely, instilling a unique ability to live in the moment, appreciate what you have and make the best of any situation. It is worth experiencing this lifestyle and the beautiful Caribbean scenery together!

Saint Lucia

Blessed with natural beauty, St. Lucia has enough geographic and cultural richness to embarrass far larger nations. Nevertheless, it remains a down-to-earth place that presents its breathtaking beauty with nonchalance and extends a warm welcome to all its visitors.

British Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands is an overseas territory of Great Britain. But apart from the scattered fish and chips offered, there is little evidence of affiliation with the kingdom. Most travelers come to enjoy the many secluded sandy beaches and to stroll among the more than 50 paradise islands. With steady trade winds, calm currents, sheltered coves and real pirate pubs, this is one of the world’s sailing hotspots.

St. Vincent and the Grenadines

The very name of St. Vincent and the Grenadines evokes visions of exotic, idyllic island life. Imagine an island chain in the heart of the Caribbean uncrowded with tourists, with white-sand beaches on deserted islands, turquoise waters gently lapping its shores, and hardly a soul. Then you have arrived on St. Vincent!

Dominica

Whether arriving in Dominica by sea or air, the first impression is one of awe at the dramatic majesty of this place. Few islands in the Caribbean can match this beauty. Nicknamed the “Island of Nature,” Dominica lures independent travelers and eco-adventurers with a ‘boiling’ lake, rainforest-shrouded volcanoes, sulphurous hot springs, excellent scuba diving and the Caribbean’s first long-distance hiking trail.

Turks and Caicos Islands

The Turks and Caicos Islands, tucked away at the southern tip of the Bahama archipelago, elude most travelers’ feelers. But this sparsely populated chain of low sandy coves boasts some of the most spectacular coral reefs and beaches in the world and has evolved into a true luxury travel destination. The pace of life is easygoing, the local welcome is warm and especially the diving is really out of this world.
