Champions League: Chelsea gets precious draw in PSG

The clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea in French capital ends in a 1-1 draw, giving the visitors the advantage before the return match in London.

Paris Saint-Germain drew against Chelsea 1-1 in Europe’s most prestigious international club-based football tournament UEFA in Champions League’s Round of 16 game played at Parc des Princes in Paris on Tuesday night.

In 34th minute the home team were close to score but Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani’s header was deflected by Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in a critical save.

Two minutes later Chelsea’s English centre-back Gary Cahill flicked the ball coming from John Terry. Serbian right-back Branislav Ivanovic scored the opening goal with a header, 1-0. Chelsea took the lead in Paris.

Paris Saint-Germain striker Cavani equalised the level when his header went in at the 54th minute, 1-1. Blaise Matuidi made the assist.

PSG made pressure to score the leading goal. At 80th, Cavani missed a great chance on one-on-one position, his shot skipped the bar.

In injury time, Paris Saint-Germain star striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic made a header, however, Courtois deflected the ball to the corner.

Chelsea are having the advantage before the return match.

Second leg will be played in Chelsea’s home ground, Stamford Bridge, London on March 11.
