Cuba evokes legacy of Hugo Chavez

On the 68th anniversary of the birth of Venezuelan leader Hugo Rafael Chavez Frías, a fervent friend of Cuba, authorities and organizations on the island evoke his legacy.

Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic, celebrated Chávez’s exemplary legacy of solidarity on Twitter.

Regarding the Venezuelan leader, the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero, pointed out on the same social network that he is the best friend of Cuba and Fidel.

The member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organization of the Central Committee of the Party, Roberto Morales Ojeda, recalled the words of the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro: “A Venezuelan soldier in whose mind the ideas of Bolívar germinated. It is enough to observe how his thought passed from humble origins, school, military academy, reading, the reality of his country and the presence of Yankee domination”.

The Union of Young Communists (UJC) called for a tweet in tribute to Chávez, which will take place between 9:00 and 12:00, with the hashtags #ChavezVive and #CubaPorLaPaz.

Likewise, the Casa del Alba Cultural and the Venezuelan embassy in Havana coordinated a recital dedicated to the Bolivarian leader today, reports the Prensa Latina agency.

Hugo Rafael Chávez Frías was born in Sabaneta, in the Venezuelan state of Barinas, on July 28, 1954.

In December 1998 he won the presidency of Venezuela, assuming the first magistracy from him in February 1999, in which he made a constitutional change with freedoms and rights that were denied until now for the majority of the population.

Chávez died on March 5, 2013 at the Doctor Carlos Arvelo Military Hospital in Caracas, a victim of cancer.
