The exit polls conducted by television channels in India are predicting that rightwing Hindu party BJP will form next government in India.

New Delhi, May 13/Nationalturk- After conclusion of all the nine phase polling for Indian parliament yesterday, the exit polls conducted by television chancels are predicting that rightwing Hindu party BJP will form next government in India.

The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA), according to various exit polls conducted by television channels and other organisation, is projected to form the next Government in India. The BJP-led NDA is expected to get between 249 and 300 seats, which is close or more than half-way mark in the 543-member Indian parliament.

The ruling Congress-led UPA was tipped to get between 70 and 148 seats.

As per exit poll conducted by TV channel Times Now/ORG survey, BJP-led NDA will get 249 seats while Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) may get 148 seats.

As per News 24-Chanakya survey, BJP on its own will get 291 seats and BJP-led NDA may get 340 seats. The survey presents gloomy picture of Congress with the present ruling party of India getting just 57 seats.

According to India Today/CICERO survey, BJP-led NDA will get 261-283 seats and Congress-led UPA may get 110-120 seats.

India TV-C voter gives BJP-led NDA 289 seats and Congress 101 seats overall.

As per Aaj Tak survey, NDA may get 272 to 283 seats while Congress led front may get 110 to 120 seats all over the country.

Exit poll is taken right after polling

An exit poll is taken right after the voters have exited the polling booth. It is different from an opinion poll. In an opinion poll the voter is asked as to whom he plans to vote for.

In an exit poll, the voter is asked as to who they voted for. The exit polls gives an early indication of what the voting pattern has been.

The counting of votes in all the 543 parliament seats will be taken up on May 16. An average of 66 percent voters exercised their franchise in the last eight phases, as per estimates.

Sensex at new record high

The Bombay Stock Exchange sensex today breached 24,000 level for the first time on the optimism backed by exit polls forecast that shows a stable govt led by BJP coming to power in India.

All the sectoral indices led by oil and gas, PSUs, power, banking, realty and capital goods sectors are trading in the positive zone.

The 30-share Sensex rose by over 514.82 points to trade at an all-time high of 24,066 while the 50-share NSE Nifty zoomed 128.70 to trade at 7,143.

Sensex was trading at 23,921.91 in opening trade on heavy fund inflows.
