Prince Albert of Monaco is selling several classics from his late father’s collection at auction.
On July 26, the royally pedigreed cars will be sold at by auction firm Arcturial Motorcars. The auction will take place at the museum, after two days of public viewing, and will be offered at no reserve.
Among the cars on offer are several classic Citroens: a pair of 5-hp models from 1925, a 1980 CX2400 Pallas and a 1952 Traction Avant 11b, among others. Peugeot and Renault history is also represented, including a 1926 Renault KZ1 and a 1931 Peugeot 201. There are also more recent cars such as a 1964 Dodge Dart, a 1973 Chevrolet Camaro and a 1972 Lancia Fulvia.
The most expensive asking price is 35,000 Euros (about $43,000), a price point shared by two early-twentieth-century Panhards and a 1956 Bentley S1.
Prince Albert II. has seemingly kept the most interesting cars in the palace; the museum. It’s open to the public 363 days per year and lists a 1928 Hispano-Suiza, a 1956 Chrysler Imperial and “prestigious models from Maserati, Jaguar, Mercedes and Rolls-Royce” among the holdings.
