National coach Hansi Flick has nominated returning Mario Götze and international debutants Youssoufa Moukoko and Niclas Füllkrug for the World Cup in Qatar. Dortmund’s Mats Hummels and Marco Reus, on the other hand, are not part of the 26-player squad that the DFB announced in Frankfurt on Thursday.
The squad is led by seven Bayern Munich professionals led by captain Manuel Neuer. The goalkeeper is one of four world champions from 2014 alongside Thomas Müller, Götze and Matthias Ginter.
In addition to Hummels, Flick refrained from discovering Robin Gosens at the European Championship. The ailing Marco Reus is missing, as are the injured Timo Werner and Lukas Nmecha. Florian Wirtz was also not considered after his cruciate ligament tear. Lukas Klostermann, on the other hand, is there after tearing his syndesmosis ligament.
