There is no end to border clashes between Indian and Pakistani soldiers and on Monday an Indian Army officer was killed and another injured in Pakistani firing along Uri sector Line of Control (LoC), the defacto border between the two countries, in Indian Kashmir.

New Delhi, Oct 28/Nationalurk-: An Indian Army officer was killed and another injured in Pakistani soldiers firing along Uri sector Line of Control (LoC), the defacto border between India and Pakistan, in Indian Kashmir on Monday.

Indian army officials said Pakistani soldiers fired indiscriminately on Indian posts in Uri sector along LoC in Indian administered Kashmir during the preceding night.

“In the Pakistani firing, a Junior Commissioned Officer was killed and another injured,” they said.

The identified the deceased officer, who belonged to Kumaon Regiment, as  Prakash Chander of Indian State of Uttarakhand.

‘Firing took place near Kaman Post’

Official sources said the firing took place near Kaman post, the last Indian army post in Indian Kashmir, where from Srinagar-Muzaffarabad bus connecting two parts of Kashmir (one administered by India and another by Pakistan) crosses the LoC.

According to media reports, after the incident, the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad road was closed from cross-LoC bus service and no vehicle was allowed to ply to Muzaffarabad, capital of Pakistan controlled Kashmir (PcK).

The bus service between the divided parts of Kashmir was started in April 2005 by Indian and Pakistan.

Flag meet likely today

Indian and Pakistani army officials are likely to hold a flag meeting today to de-escalate tension along Line of Control (LoC) and International Border (IB).

“We are making all efforts to hold the flag meeting to defuse the tension and response from other side has already been received,” an Indian border guard official said.

Earlier, Indian border guards had said that they tried to hold flag meeting on October 18 and 20 with Pakistan Rangers  but Pakistan Rangers did not turn up for meeting.

Indian and Pakistani troops have been regularly exchanging fire and shelling along LoC and International border in Indian administered Kashmir since  August 6, when five Indian army men were allegedly killed in Pakistani attack. However, Pakistan army and government had denied the charge saying its troops were not involved and no such incident took place on the given date.
