Mesut Özil close to the Premiership as Bremen put playmaker for sale

Bundesliga side Werder Bremen have announced that they will listen to offers for the young German International who shot to fame during the World Cup in South Africa.

Little over a month and a half ago, the chances were that you never heard of German International Mesut Özil. What a difference a month long competition can do to your career ey.

Also add the fact that if Michael Ballack had not been injured during the FA Cup final just a month before the World Cup then probably most would have still not heard of the “Ghost” as so many have called the young playmaker.

But the 21-year-old German International with Turkish origins have certainly shot to fame and is currently in the list of so many Premiership clubs and Spanish.

Bremen are in a spot of bother over the young German International who has only 12 months left on his contract at the German club – the question is, do they cash in on their star asset? Or do they offer a super deal for the young star and keep him at the Bundesliga side for his services?

Well it looks like both are still in the options for the Özil as Bremen are putting the young talented midfielder on sale but are also adamant that if the club does not receive a good offer then he will be offered an improved contract.

However that looks highly unlikely, especially after the German club announced that negotiations can be made over the original asking price of £20 million.

This news have interested Premiership clubs with the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham, Arsenal, Chelsea and many others.

But it is widely expected that Manchester United are the frontrunners in the race to capture the young international.
