Netflix confirms sequel to hit series ‘Squid Game’

The first season of "Squid Game" delighted viewers. Since then, we have been eagerly awaiting new episodes. And now it's finally certain: The South Korean production will soon start a new round.

Last fall, Netflix had a new ratings hit: the South Korean format “Squid Game.” The production even had the most successful series start on the streaming service. The joy of the fans is all the more great: The second season has been officially announced.

New character announced

Netflix announced the news in a press release. “Gi-hun is coming back soon. The frontman is coming back. Season two is in the works,” it explains. “The ‘man in the suit’ might show up again for a game of ddakji. Also, we’ll meet Young-hee’s friend Cheol-su,” it also teased.

It took 12 years to get the first season out, but it took 12 days for ‘Squid Game’ to become Netflix’s top-grossing series. The production team would therefore like to thank the large audience that has followed the series.

The Netflix hit is about people heavily in debt who take part in children’s games to win prize money. The catch: the candidates who lose die or are killed. It is not yet known when exactly the new episodes will appear.
