30-year-old striker Wout Weghorst, who plays for Beşiktaş, took part in the Netherlands 2022 World Cup squad.

28-year-old striker Vincent Janssen, who played for Fenerbahce for a while, also found a place in the squad.

The Netherlands, which did not win the championship in the tournament where it played three times in the final, will be in Group A with the host Qatar in the 2022 World Cup and will play its first match against Senegal on November 21. The team of Louis van Gaal, who will face Ecuador in his second match, will finish the group stage after the match against the host Qatar.

Netherlands 2022 world cup squad: Cillessen does not go to the World Cup with the Orange

Jasper Cillessen will not go with the Dutch national team to the World Cup in Qatar. National coach Louis van Gaal has not included the 33-year-old goalkeeper of NEC in his final selection. That news from De Gelderlander has been confirmed to Voetbal International.

For Cillessen this is an extremely painful message. The goalkeeper also saw last year’s European Championship pass by. After a positive corona test, then national coach Frank de Boer decided not to take the goalkeeper to the final round.

Cillessen returned to NEC last summer, had some strong matches and seemed to have good cards for a ticket to Qatar. However, Van Gaal decided differently, which means that the 63-time international has to follow the World Cup in front of the tube.

The full 26-man selection of the Dutch national team will be announced later today. Follow all developments about that last selection in our special VI Live.

Van Gaal calls 11 of 13 dropouts personally: “I have seen naked players”

Louis van Gaal spent almost two hours on Friday morning canceling the Orange dropouts for the World Cup. The national coach, who did not mince his words, told this at the press conference in Zeist.

Devyne Rensch, Mitchel Bakker, Sven Botman, Micky van de Ven, Pascal Struijk, Guus Til, Ryan Gravenberch, Jordy Clasie, Brian Brobbey, Arnaut Danjuma and Donyell Malen received a call from Van Gaal. Jasper Cillessen and Mark Flek were informed by goalkeeper coach Frans Hoek.

“I spent an hour and 45 minutes on those Facetime conversations. That was a tough job, I can tell you,” says the national coach, before making a special disclosure. “I have seen naked players, because they were still in bed or just got out of bed. After 10 am I came to Zeist.”

Van Gaal extracts one conversation. “I have argued everything and one dropout said: yes, but my trainer doesn’t let me do that. Then you’re out of luck. I then have a different vision than the trainer. It all listens so closely. to cancel.”

Simons and Noppert delighted with place in World Cup selection: ‘My dream comes true’

Xavi Simons and Andries Noppert are delighted with their place in the final World Cup selection. The PSV midfielder and the goalkeeper of sc Heerenveen survived the selection on Friday and can hope for their debut for Orange.
“Words cannot describe how I feel right now. This is a dream come true,” Simons wrote in a message on Twitter. The talent switched from Paris Saint-Germain to PSV last summer and made an impression with the Eindhoven team in his first months. He was good for eight goals and four assists in thirteen league games.

“I want to thank my family and the rest of my environment. Especially my mother, my brother and my sister. Thank you for your support and for your unconditional love.”

Noa Lang is also happy with his election. The Club Brugge attacker, like Simons, says that a dream has come true. “See you soon, Qatar,” writes the 23-year-old winger.

PSV attacker Cody Gakpo thanks God on social media for his place in the World Cup selection.

Netherlands 2022 world cup squad / Noppert: ‘I had arrived at four goalkeepers’

Noppert is proud that he can come to Qatar. The goalkeeper of Heerenveen, together with Justin Bijlow (Feyenoord) and Remko Pasveer (Ajax), forms the goalkeepers’ guild of Orange at the World Cup. Jasper Cillessen (NEC) and Mark Flek (SC Freiburg) have lost weight.

“This is certainly a dream”, Noppert responded after Heerenveen’s training at the Leeuwarder Courant. “Everyone wants to become a professional footballer when you start playing football. That has worked. And if you can now go to the World Cup, it is a dream come true. I am proud.”

Noppert is surprised that the Netherlands travels to the World Cup with only three goalkeepers. “Honestly, I had four, I’m surprised there are three. Of course it doesn’t matter to me who drops out. They are guys with a lot of experience, so in that area it’s a bit astonishing.”
