Islamabad, June 11/Nationalturk – Exposing the double standards of Pakistan and some other Muslim countries including UAE, a British government report has revealed that Israel exported security equipment to Pakistan and four Arab countries during last five years.

The department oversees security exports and publishes regular reports on permits granted or denied to purchase arms, military equipment or civilian items that are monitored.

According to Israeli newspaper, Haaretz,  from January 2008 to December 2012, British authorities processed hundreds of Israeli applications to purchase military items containing British components for use by the Israel Defence Forces, or to go into systems exported to third countries.

“Besides Pakistan, Israel has exported defence equipment to Egypt, Algeria, United Arab Emirates and Morocco,” the report said.

Israel exported radar, electronic warfare systems to Pakistan

The report said in 2011 Israel sought to purchase British components to export radar systems to Pakistan, as well as electronic warfare systems, Head-up Cockpit Displays ‏(HUD‏), parts for fighter jets and aircraft engines, optic target acquisition systems, components of training aircraft, and military electronic systems.

“Earlier, in 2010, Israel applied for permits to export electronic warfare systems and HUDs with components from Britain to Pakistan. In 2010, Israel also sought permits to supply Egypt and Morocco with Israeli electronic warfare systems and HUD systems that use British parts,” reports Haaretz newspaper quoting British report.

It said in 2009, Israel requested permits from British authorities to process security equipment exports to Algeria, Morocco and UAE. “The exports processing south for Algeria and UAE also included permits to supply components for drones.”

India, Japan, US, Germany also purchased Israeli military hardware

According to the British reports, Israel’s other clients for military exports during last five years included India, Singapore, Turkey, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan, Sweden, Portugal, United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Colombia, Holland, Italy, Germany, Spain, Thailand, Macedonia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Switzerland, Ecuador, Mexico, Finland, Ireland, Luxembourg, Equatorial Guyana, Poland and Argentina.

According to British report, Israel’s leading security export products include drones, electronic warfare systems, radar and cockpit displays.

The report said Britain rejected Israel’s request to obtain military systems intended for export to Russia ‏(optical target acquisition systems‏), Sri Lanka ‏(aircraft engines‏), India ‏(aircraft engines and satellite radar‏), Turkmenistan ‏(gun mountings‏) and Azerbaijan ‏(aircraft engines‏).

The revelations made by British government will definitely have an impact in Pakistan, and four other Arab States. People and religious parties of the nations are likely to protest against the arms import from Israel. Pakistan and most of the Arab nations don’t have diplomatic ties with Israel.
