Pakistan PM is billionaire, many MPs billionaires, millionaires

Although Pakistan’s economy is in bad shape, but according to Pakistan Election Commission, country has many billionaire and millionaire parliament members with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif himself being the billionaire.

Islamabad, Dec 26/Nationalturk – Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is a billionaire with total assets worth Rs1.43 billion (Pakistan currency). Many parliament members of the country are billionaires and millionaires.

Pakistan’s Election Commission (PEC) has released details of assets and liabilities of the parliament members for the year 2012-2013. Several lawmakers are industrialists, owning sugar mills, textile mills, landlords and businessmen.

According to PEC,  Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif owns massive agriculture land and property worth over Rs1.43 billion (Pakistan currency). “It includes the land he inherited, was gifted and he owned”.

Nawaz, according to PEC, owns 135 kanals land at Upper Mall, Lahore, 938.12 kanal agriculture land in Mouaza Mank Lahore, 299.12 kanal at Mouaza Bandokishani, Lahore, 103.6 kanal at The Mall, Lahore, 312.14 kanal in Mouaza Sultankay, Lahore, and 102 kanals in Sheikhupura.

His spouse Begum Kulsoom Nawaz owns Bungalow 24-A&B and B3, Mall Road, Murree, and Nawaz has invested in Chaudhry Sugar Mills, Hudabiya Eng. Co. Pvt Ltd., Muhammad Bakhsh Textile Mills, Hamza Spinning Mills while his spouse also has shares in Chaudhry Sugar Mills, Kulsoom Textile Mills and Muhammad Bakhsh Textile Mills.

The prime minister has also given details of the jewellery of his spouse and its value has been put at Rs1.5 million. He owns a Toyota Land Cruiser, two Mercedes Benz and a tractor. The total value of his assets and deposits and cash in hand is Rs1.824 billion as per the details he shared with the ECP.

The assets of Minister forPetroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi are also over Rs1.29 billion. Among other rich parliament members are  Faryal Talpur (assets of Rs158.9 million), Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq (Rs170 million assets), Aftab Sherpao (Rs50 million assets), Ghulam Sarwar Khan (Rs 92 million assets), Sheikh Rashid (Rs 41.8 million assets), Javed Hashmi (Rs100 million assets) and Ghulam Bilour (Rs37.5 million assets).

Imran Khan has assets worth Rs 5 million

The cricketer-turned politician and chairman of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan had net assets worth Rs 5 million. Bulk of his property has been inherited. He owns a Toyota Prado.

Besides possessing agriculture land in Mianwali and elsewhere, Imran possesses a house on 300 kanals and 5 marla in village Mohra near Islamabad, a 1,585 square feet Clara Apartment in Diplomatic Enclave, Islamabad.

Pakistan’s opposition leader and senior PPP leader Syed Khursheed Shah has an assets worth Rs26.9 million. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman owns assets worth Rs7.3 million. He has Rs1.6 million in banks, owns ornaments worth Rs 0.95 million, two houses and their value has been put at Rs 4 million, besides possessing a plot worth Rs 0.7 million. However, he did not declare possession or ownership of any vehicle – despite being seen in SUVs many times.

PML-Q leader and former deputy prime minister of Pakistan  Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi has assets worth Rs190 million. The MQM leader Farooq Sattar owns assets worth Rs3.6 million.

Former Pakistan Assembly Speaker Dr Fehmida Mirza claimed that she was the owner of property worth Rs40 million while her husband, Dr Zulfikar Mirza  owned property of only Rs18 million. Dr Fehmida also owns an apartment at Global Lake View, Dubai, which is priced astonishingly low at Rs1.6 million.

Pakistan’s Information Minister among the poor lawmakers

Pakistan’s current Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid is among the poor lawmakers, according to his annual statement of assets and liabilities filed with the ECP.

He has only Rs250,300.13 as balance in his two bank accounts while he has no movable or immovable property, house, car, or jewellery and loans or liabilities.

Independent parliament member Jamshed Dasti was declared the poorest MNA last year.

Balochistan CM richest  CM

Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik has declared agriculture land worth over Rs280 million but said that he does not own any vehicle.

Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Parvez Khattak owns real estate priced at Rs221 million and a Toyota Corolla worth Rs1.3 million.

Chief Minister of Punjab province Shahbaz Sharif’s assets valued at Rs142.2 million and his wives attained more wealth than him, according to the declarations. He also disclosed that he has property worth Rs138 million in London.

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah valued his moveable and immoveable property at an implausible Rs16.2 million. He claimed that he does not own a car and uses his daughter’s Honda City.
