Pakistan today tested medium range nuclear capable ballistic missile Hatf V (Ghauri).

Islamabad, Nov 28/NationalTurk – Pakistan military’s Inter Service Public Relations spokesman said Pakistan Wednesday successfully conducted the training launch of Medium Range Ballistic Missile Hatf V (Ghauri).

He said the launch was conducted by a Strategic Missile Group of the Army Strategic Force Command on culmination of a field training exercise that was aimed at testing the operational readiness of the Army Strategic Force Command.

He said Ghauri ballistic missile is a liquid fuel missile, which can carry both conventional and nuclear warheads over a distance of 1300 kms.

The ISPR spokesman said the test monitoring of the launch was conducted at the National Command Centre through the medium of National Command Authority’s fully automated Strategic Command and Control Support System (SCCSS).

He said the test consolidates and strengthens Pakistan’s deterrence capability, and national security.

Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Raja Parvez congratulated all ranks of the Army Strategic Force Command on the excellent standard achieved during training which was reflected in the proficient handling of the weapon system in the field and the accuracy of the training launch.

Pak concerned about Indian missiles

Pakistan has been concerned about Agni-series missiles of its nuclear arch rival, India and has been countering it by testing long range Hatf and Ghauri missiles.

India has recently tested its interceptor missile to intercept different ranges of missiles to given missile protective shield of country. China and Pakistan are close neighbours of India and both China and Pakistan don’t have friendly ties with India.

Pakistan first tested Ghauri missile on 6 April 1998.

India and Pakistan have been  conducting missile tests since going  nuclear  in 1998.
