Paul the Oracle Octopus retires from the football prediction business

Paul the oracle octopus is said to have retired from the prediction business after the success of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Paul picking Spain over Holland in the World Cup final which he predicted correctly.

Paul the ‘oracle’ octopus, quickly became an International sensation after the eight legged invertebrate managed to predict all seven games of Germany’s World Cup games correctly.

The octopus even managed to gues the final between Spain Vs Holland correctly by picking the muscle out of the box containing the Spanish flag within minutes.

Fittingly, Paul the octopus received his very own replica World Cup with a muscle on top which must have cheered the 2-year-old up.

Paul is currently an international star and many bookmakers allegedly offered to purchase him but his owners at the Sea Life Aquarium refused.

Tanja Munzig, a representative said “There are a lot of offers for Paul from betting offices and other areas. One thing is clear, Paul is staying with us.”

Munzig added “He won’t give any more oracle predictions either in football, or in politics, lifestyle or economy. Paul will get back to his former job, namely making children laugh.”

However there have been rumors that bookmakers allegedly struck a deal with the owners of Paul the oracle octopus after he managed to earn World Cup betters an estimated £500,000 in total.
