PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan ‘s police escort attacked
One policeman was killed and another was injured in an armed attack on the convoy of T in northern Turkey.
Police teams guarding Tayyip Erdogan’s election bus came under cross fire on a mountainous area as the prime minister left northern province of Kastamonu after an election rally, heading to nearby Amasya province on a helicopter for another rally.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the attackers “separatists,” a reference often used by Turkish authorities to refer to Kurdish rebels who fight for autonomy in the country’s southeast.
A journalist witnessing the attack told on Haber Turk television during a live phone conversation that one policeman was killed in a police vehicle, which was set ablaze after a hand grenade was hurled a group of assailants.
