Religion questions inserted into university exams in Turkey

Turkish PM Erdogan had a remark this year saying that he desires a pious nation. His AKP government works tirelessly to fulfill his wish. Lastly questions pertaining to religion will be part of the university entrance exam starting in 2013.

Ankara / NationalTurk – Head of Turkey’s Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM), Ali Demir told the ‘ good ‘ news that questions pertaining to religion will be added to the university entrance exam starting in 2013.

Religious classes are compulsory in schools in Turkey. Pupils and students must learn phrases from holy book although they have no clue what they mean or even don’t care.

Now students who want to go to a university are forced to learn some verses in gibberish or information on Islam which they will forget right after the exam is over, only to get higher points in the exams.
