Snow Finally Arrives ahead of Winter Games

It has finally started snowing in eastern Turkish city of Erzurum, which will host the 25th Winter Universiade Games.

The long-expected snow began late on Wednesday and continued as of early Thursday, less then a day before the inauguration of the games.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will inaugurate the games at 19:30 (17:30 GMT) today and the games will end on February 6.

The games will host nearly 3,000 sportsmen from all over the world who will compete in a total of 11 branches; Alpine skiing, biathlon, ice hockey, curling, ski jumping, cross country, Nordic combined, snowboard, freestyle skiing, figure skating and short track.
