Six mortar shells allegedly fired from Afghan territory by Afghanistan’s army landed in Pakistan’s tribal area on Saturday.

Islamabad, March 29/Nationalturk – The tension is prevailing along Afghanistan-Pakistan border after six mortar shells allegedly fired from Afghan territory landed in Pakistan’s tribal area.

Pakistan security sources said six mortar shells fired from border check post by Afghan National Army landed near the Pakistani army check post in  North Waziristan Agency’ Ghulam Khan Tehsil early this morning.

They said no loss of life and damage to property was caused as the shells landed in open fields.

‘Regular cross-border shelling allegations’

North Waziristan is of one of Pakistan’s tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan. Pakistan and Afghanistan regularly trade allegations of cross-border shelling from both sides of the border.

Afghanistan and Pakistan accuse each other of providing refugee to militants. Afghanistan government accuses Pakistan of arming and training Taliban militants while Islamabad accuses Kabul of providing arms and refuge to Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants.

Islamabad has alleged that TTP’s chief Maulana Fazullah is presently hiding in Afghanistan and operating from there.
