The Queen’s coffin is decorated with a letter from King Charles

At Princess Diana's funeral in 1997, young Princes William and Harry caused a great deal of emotion with a letter to their mother on the coffin.

King Charles has now said goodbye to his “Mummy” in a similar way.

When Prince Philip was buried last year, the Queen also had a final salute placed on her husband’s coffin, following this tradition.

“In loving memory”

A handwritten letter was also seen on the Queen’s coffin amid flowers at Monday’s funeral ceremony in London. “For my dear mother. In loving and devoted memory. Charles R,” it said.

Flowers from Highgrove

The wreath on Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin is at the request of her son, King Charles III. been compiled.

The plants come from the gardens of their residences Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle and from Charles’ country estate Highgrove House. These include rosemary, which symbolizes remembrance.

The myrtle used – a symbol of a happy marriage – was cut from a plant that was once grown from a myrtle sprig in the queen’s wedding bouquet. Also included were pedunculate oak as a symbol of the power of love, geraniums, garden roses, hydrangeas, sedum, dahlias and scabious. The wreath was gold, pink, and deep burgundy, with touches of white—the colors of the royal standard.

Queen Elizabeth II died in Balmoral on September 8th. Around 2,000 guests, including dozens of heads of state and government such as US President Joe Biden and Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen, attended her funeral service in Westminster Abbey in London.
