Trump and Netanyahu unveil 20-point Gaza peace plan at White House summit

U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has accepted his 20-point plan to end the Gaza war. The proposal calls for a phased Israeli withdrawal, the disarmament of Hamas, and the establishment of a transitional Palestinian government.

All eyes were on the White House today as U.S. President Donald Trump hosted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for a high-stakes summit that could redefine the future of Gaza and the wider Middle East. Following their talks, Trump unveiled a sweeping 20-point peace plan, which Netanyahu formally endorsed. The proposal outlines hostage releases, an international stabilization force, a demilitarized Gaza, and ambitious plans for reconstruction and economic growth.

Trump: “Eternal peace in the Middle East”

Speaking at a joint press conference, Trump framed the plan as a turning point:

– “Prime Minister Netanyahu and I have concluded a very important meeting. We spoke about Iran, trade, the expansion of the Abraham Accords, and, most importantly, how to end the war in Gaza. This is part of a much bigger picture: eternal peace in the Middle East.”

Trump listed extensive international support, noting that leaders from Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, the UAE, Indonesia, and Pakistan had all expressed backing for the proposal.

Netanyahu: “The plan meets our war objectives”

Netanyahu praised the U.S. president as Israel’s “greatest friend in the White House” and said the deal aligns with Israel’s core security concerns:

– “This plan will return all of our hostages, dismantle Hamas’ military capabilities and political power, and ensure Gaza will never again pose a threat to Israel. We are taking an important step not only to end this war but to advance peace across the Middle East.”

The Israeli leader also revealed that he apologized to Qatar’s prime minister for civilian losses in Doha, insisting Israel’s target was Hamas, not Qatari citizens.

Key points of Trump’s 20-point plan

Gaza will be fully demilitarized and free of radical groups.

Israel will withdraw its forces in stages.

All hostages must be released within 72 hours of Israel’s acceptance.

Israel will release 250 life-sentence prisoners and 1,700 detained Gazans.

A temporary Palestinian technocratic government will be formed.

An international “Board of Peace,” headed by Trump and including Tony Blair, will oversee the process.

At least 600 humanitarian aid trucks per day will be allowed into Gaza.

A special economic zone will be created to attract investment and jobs.

Hamas will have no role in governance.

An international stabilization force will secure the territory.

A new chapter for the region

Trump concluded his remarks by saying, “Gaza will see not death, but prosperity. The Palestinian people will finally have the chance to take control of their own future.” Netanyahu echoed this sentiment, calling the initiative “a new beginning” for both Gaza and the wider Middle East.
