FIFA chose Friday Cuneyt Cakir, the Turkish referee to officiate the final of the Club World Cup, between Corinthians and Chelsea on Sunday from 8:30 am (GMT) in Yokohama, Japan.. His assistants refs will be Bahattin Duran and Tarik Ongun.

Currently 36, Cakir is part of Fifa referee since 2006. He has refereed one game this edition of the World , yet the quarterfinals, when the Mexican Monterrey won the South Korean Ulsan Hyundai by 3-1 and advanced to face Chelsea in the semifinals.

The Turkish has also refereed a game in the history of Chelsea. Cakir was the arbiter of last season’s semifinal of the League of Champions of Europe, when the English team drew with favorite Barcelona in Spain, by 2-2, and got the spot in the final bill after the title.

Another game in the career of a prominent Turkish referee was the semifinal of the last edition of the European Championship between Portugal and Spain last June in Ukraine. In that game, the Spanish team won on penalties to advance to the final, where would be the big winner.

Currently 36, Cuneyt Cakir is the framework FIFA referee since 2006.
