UK Police Subdue Man At London Mosque Incident

A man suspected of attacking people at London’s Central Mosque in Regent’s Park in the early hours of Wednesday was tasered and arrested.

Officers were called after reports of a man attacking people at the mosque after 1.20 a.m. Police at the scene found “a man waving an item around,” an official statement read.

He was detained and taken into custody at a central London police station.

The incident is not being treated as terrorism-related.

Wednesday’s arrest came only two days after a deadly Islamophobic terror attack that targeted people at a Muslim center near Finsbury Park Mosque in north London.

Darren Osborne, 47, is suspected of having used a van to mow down Muslim worshippers after prayers on Monday, killing one and injuring 11 others in an Islamophobic terror attack.

Osborne reportedly shouted “I want to kill all Muslims” during the rampage.

The number of anti-Muslim attacks in the U.K. has risen sharply since recent terrorist attacks in Manchester and London.

“There has been a significant spike in incidents of hate crime and Islamophobic incidents in the aftermath of the London Bridge attack,” London Mayor Sadiq Khan said earlier this month.
