Van Persie Nazi salute denied by Dutchman

Van Persie Nazi salute nothing more than a show of joy
Van Persie Nazi salute nothing more than a show of joy ?

Robin van Persie denies celebrating his goal against Chelsea with a Nazi salute. Dutch striker reacts to ‘absurd’ claims on the internet.

London / NationalTurk – Robin van Persie stirred a contaversy in England after he celebrated one of his three goals in Arsenal’s 5-3 defeat of Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday with a Nazi salute. It should come as no surprise that Robin van Persie raising his arm while celebrating a goal is automatically questioned as a Nazi salute. After scoring what would be the winner in Arsenal’s 5-3 victory over Chelsea on Saturday, Van Persie ran to the corner flag, touched his right shoulder then his left shoulder with his right hand and raised his arm in the air in the direction of Arsenal’s jubilant visiting fans, which starkly reminded the onlookers of the Nazi salute.

The Dutchman answered the claims via his Twitter account made on the internet that he performed the Nazi salute in front of the Arsenal fans after scoring his second goal.

Van Persie Nazi salute nothing more than a show of joy

Van Persie tweeted: ‘It has been brought to my attention of some ridiculous allegations concerning my celebration of one of my goals yesterday. It is totally ludicrous to suggest that my action of brushing my shoulder and pointing to my fans could be construed as anything else but of a showing of joy and celebration. To suggest this meant anything to the contrary is insulting and absolutely absurd as nothing else came into my mind.’

Van Persie : Nazi or not here i celebrate my goal

Unfortunately though, Van Persie’s performance on Saturday in Arsenal crushing 3-5 defeat of Chelsea is now being slightly over shadowed by reports and complaints that his goal celebrations interpreted a Nazi salute. It resembles a Nazi salute and it is not suprising nor ridiculous nor ludicrous to suggest his action could be construed as something else than show of joy. More conscious behaviour please..
