Warner Bros won’t make a Batgirl movie

They definitely cancel the premiere of the movie Batgirl after Warner Bros spent US $ 90 million in its production

Warner Bros Discovery canceled the movie Batgirl (“Batgirl”) months before its planned release.

The film cost more than US$90 million and was projected to be released both in theaters and on HBO Max at the end of the year.

However, the film will never see the light of day.

The newspaper The New York Post reported that the decision was made due to the negative reaction to the film in the test screenings, exhibitions to limited groups before the general premiere.

However, Warner Bros claimed that the move reflects a “strategic change in leadership”.

“Incredibly Talented Actress”

The production was filmed entirely in Glasgow, a development local authorities described as a “major event” for the Scottish city.

The film centers on the DC Comics character Barbara Gordon or Batgirl, played by American actress and singer Leslie Grace.

Also participating in the film are Michael Keaton as Batman, Brendan Fraser as the villainous Firefly, and JK Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon.

Warner Bros Discovery further confirmed the cancellation of the movie Scoob! Holiday Haunting.

A company spokesperson noted, “The decision not to release Batgirl reflects the strategic shift in our leadership as it relates to the DC (comics) universe and HBO Max.”

“Leslie Grace is an incredibly talented actress and this decision is not a reflection of her performance.”

“We are incredibly grateful to the filmmakers of Batgirl and Scoob! Holiday Haunt and their respective casts and look forward to collaborating with everyone again in the near future,” the spokesperson added.

The unusual decision follows a change at the leadership level following Warner Bros’ merger with Discovery in May 2021.

The CEO (chief executive officer or top executive) after the merger is David Zaslav, former president of Discovery.

The Hollywood Reporter magazine noted that Zaslav has prioritized cost-cutting measures and refocused the company’s efforts on movies for theaters instead of streaming (content accessible in real time over the Internet).
