Fatih Terim now 58 years old enjoyed a golden era during his first spell during 1996-2000. He led Galatasaray to the UEFA Cup victory in 2000, a feat that has not been repeated by any other football club in the land. He also won four consecutive turkish league championships in 1996-97, 1997-98, 1998-99 and 1999-2000.<\/p>\n
However things started to go south with Fatih Terim’s second spell in Galatasaray during 2002-04 seasons. Fatih Terim ended up winning nothing at all during those seasons with Galatasaray. He and his players had to be tortured in a 6-0 defeat against archrivals Fenerbahce. As e result he lasted only two years and was sacked by the late Galatasaray Chairman \u00d6zhan Canayd\u0131n to part ways with the club.<\/p>\n
Fatih Terim’s third coming to Galatasaray stirred controversy in Turkey. Some Galatasaray fans regard Fatih ‘the emperor’ Terim as the only option to ‘save’ Galatasaray after the clubs worst season in its history, some other fans state that Terim’s time is done since he had refused to get the job, when previously asked twice by former president Adnan Polat, while Frank\u00a0Rijkaard was training the team. Both sides couldn’t agree on the terms of the conract then, not long ago, so it was stated.<\/p>\n
Fatih Terim was unsuccessful in his last club team management attempts and he is not well-known for young players development. Some sports commentators claim, he is the reason for the currently German nationals Mesut Ozil and Serdar Tasci ‘s national team choices.<\/p>\n
Time will tell if Fatih Terim will be the savour for Galatasaray \u0130stanbul sought after.<\/p>\n
