{"id":12586,"date":"2011-06-25T14:34:06","date_gmt":"2011-06-25T11:34:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=12586"},"modified":"2011-06-25T14:34:06","modified_gmt":"2011-06-25T11:34:06","slug":"eu-limits-open-borders-policy-5186","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/eu-limits-open-borders-policy-5186\/","title":{"rendered":"EU Limits Open Borders Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/eu-limits-policy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-12587\" title=\"EU Limits Open Borders Policy \" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/eu-limits-policy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"250\" height=\"188\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<h2>The European Union decided on Friday to limit its open borders policy temporarily and in exceptional circumstances, adding a different aspect to the Schengen Treaty created 16 years ago.<\/h2>\n<p>The decision was adopted in this capital as part of a two-day EU summit which on Thursday discussed the Greek crisis and the neoliberal Economic Governance Program.<\/p>\n<p>In September, the European Commission will present a proposal to modify the Treaty&#8217;s regulations which would establish exceptions to the principle of the free circulation of persons so that participating countries can restore controls.<\/p>\n<p>France, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark advocated the restoration of national borders based on the recent wave of immigrants, mainly from North Africa.<\/p>\n<p>This would be the first change to the Treaty since it was created in 1985 to allow the free circulation of goods and people through European countries.<\/p>\n<p>It was decided at the summit that the so-called mechanism of self-defense could only be put into practice in exceptional, clearly-defined situations, such as unexpected pressure along borders or when a member State fails to comply with a regulation.<\/p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #f00;\">Error, group does not exist!
