He is \u201ca hard-line opponent of Turkey&#8217;s bid to join the European Union\u201d grounding his argument on that this integration would \u201cdilute Europe&#8217;s Christian heritage\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The election of Van Rompuy arouses concern of Ankara.
