A family statement said: “Early this morning, we lost Donna Summer Sudano, a woman of many gifts, the greatest being her faith. While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy. Words truly can’t express how much we appreciate your prayers and love for our family at this sensitive time.”<\/p>\n

Winner of five Grammy awards, disco queen had a string of hits in the 1970s, including Love to Love You Baby…<\/h2>\n

After a successful streak of hits in the late ’70s and very early ’80s, she returned to the Hot 100’s top 10 in 1983 with the No. 3 anthem “She Works Hard For the Money.” She claimed her final top 10 in 1989 with the Stock-Aitken-Waterman-produced “This Time I Know It’s For Real” (No. 7).<\/p>\n

Her most recent Hot 100 hit came in 1999 with “I Will Go With You (Con Te Partiro),” which reached No. 79.<\/p>\n

While her fortunes on the Hot 100 waned through the past few decades, Summer remained a force on the Billboard Dance\/Club Play Songs chart her entire career. Appropriate, for the Queen of Disco.<\/p>\n
