The astronomers are very enthusiastic.<\/h1>\n<p>The researchers will vastly advance astrophysical euridition, allowing detailed studies of subjects discovering planets around other stars, the first objects in the Universe, super-massive black holes, and the nature and distribution of the dark matter and dark energy which dominate the Universe.<\/p>\n<h2>The biggest eye on the sky &#8211; European\u00a0Extremely Large Telescope<\/h2>\n<p>Since the end of 2005 European Southern Observatory\u00a0(ESO) has been working together with its user community of European astronomers and astrophysicists to prescribe the new giant telescope which will be needed by the middle of the next ten years. At present more than one hundred astronomers from all European countries have been involved throughout 2006, helping the ESO Project Offices to produce a novel concept, in which performance, cost, schedule and risk were cautiously\u00a0evaluated.<\/p>\n<p>The European Southern Observatory (ESO) governing body accepted the 2012 budget, which paves the way for precursory work to begin at the planned site of the European Extremely Large Telescope\u00a0in the central part of Chile&#8217;s Atacama Desert.<\/p>\n<h3>The Design of Extremely Large Telescope in Chile<\/h3>\n<p>The\u00a0Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT), which represents a joint collaboration between fiveteen countries, will be the world&#8217;s largest ground-based optical telescope. Builders have chosen the observatory&#8217;s location in Chile because of the optimal weather conditions in the area.
