Teenage \u00a0superstar Justin Bieber has been fined for speeding after reportedly trying to escape paparazzi racing through the streets of Los Angeles.<\/h1>\n

The singer, who was driving his sports car in the city, was being followed by a group of vehicles.\u00a0Witnesses have said he managed to shake off most of the photographers but one continued to tail him.\u00a0Police received a call warning of a car chase on Friday night, in which the ‘Boyfriend’ and ‘Baby’ heartthrob performer was apparently driving at speeds in excess of 65mph.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old told officers he was being chased and investigators confirmed he was being followed by at least one vehicle.\u00a0“The second vehicle left the area and there’s a search to find that driver,” said Officer Ming Hsu of the California Highway Patrol.\u00a0Los Angeles City official Dennis Zine, was the eyewitness who called authorities after seeing Bieber’s distinctive chrome Fisker Karma being chased by five or six other cars.<\/p>\n

On his morning commute, the experienced ex-police officer, said he saw Bieber’s sports car drive up behind him and zoom around him, weaving wildly in and out of traffic while five or six other cars chased him.<\/p>\n

Mr Zine estimated the chase exceeded 100mph (160kph) as paparazzi engaged in wild manoeuvres to keep up with Bieber, including driving on the hard shoulder and cutting off other vehicles.<\/p>\n

He went on to express outrage at Bieber’s driving, saying he thought it was reckless and too fast, adding that he believed the photographers involved were breaking the law by hounding the teenager.\u00a0The incident is not the only time the singer has had problems with the press.<\/p>\n

In May, a photographer called authorities complaining they had been in a scuffle with the singer in a shopping centre.\u00a0Police said the incident happened when a photographer tried to snap pictures of Bieber and his girlfriend, teen actress Selena Gomez.<\/p>\n

In April 2011, Bieber called off a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem, saying he cancelled, in part, because he did not want to face the country’s notoriously aggressive paparazzi.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
