Liverpool are ready to test the water with a \u00a310million bid for Swansea City midfielder Joe Allen<\/h1>\n

Liverpool have been linked with the 23-year-old since Brendan Rodgers moved to the club from Swansea last month and the news comes despite there being a \u2018no-poaching\u2019 agreement between the two clubs as part of the agreement which took Rodgers to Anfield.<\/p>\n

Liverpool have been quoted \u00a315million by Swansea after last week asking the Welsh side to quote their price for the player, who is currently with the GB Olympic squad. The paper claims that Rodgers believes Allen is keen to move to Anfield and will put in a \u00a310million bid over the next few days but that they will also offer Jonjo Shelvey on a season-long loan deal in order to push the deal through.<\/p>\n

\u201cI haven\u2019t spoken to Joe since I have taken over,\u201d new Swansea boss Michael Laudrup said that the weekend. \u201cI haven\u2019t spoken to any of the three Olympics players and we have not had any contact from Liverpool,\u201d he added. Any deal is unlikely to be finalised until after GB\u2019s involvement in the Olympics.<\/p>\n

Liverpool Transfer News: Zenit In Martin Skrtel Link<\/h2>\n

Russian side Zenit St Petersburg are once again being linked with interest in Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel. The 27-year-old moved to Anfield from Zenit in a \u00a36.5million deal in 2008 Russians are willing to offer the Slovakia international as much as \u00a3110,000 a week to return to the club where he spent four years before moving to Anfield. The paper adds that Zenit will offer Liverpool \u00a314million.<\/p>\n

Skrtel has also been linked with Napoli and Manchester City. Napoli\u2019s interest ended after hearing of Skrtel\u2019s wage demands \u2013 said in Italy to have been \u00a330,000 a week after tax \u2013 while City\u2019s interest in still at the speculation stage.<\/p>\n

Skrtel admitted last week that he had received offers from other clubs but he added that talks had stalled over a new contract at Anfield.<\/p>\n

Young Liverpool winger Toni Silva has joined Championship side Barnsley on a free transfer.
