Those reports suggest that the offer made was in fact \u201cunderstood to have been less than \u00a310m\u201d, placing it closer to Juventus\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Manchester United have been widely linked all summer with a move for the Dutchman, who picked up a number of awards last term, including the\u00a0PFA\u2019s Player of the Year and who earlier in the transfer window confirmed that he would not be signing a new contract at the club. One stumbling block for United might be the striker\u2019s wage demands,\u00a0\u00a0which would\u00a0equate to about \u00a3195,000 a week, close to Wayne Rooney\u2019s \u00a3200k a week, suggested by the same source.<\/p>\n<p>As Manchester United&#8217;s usually quiet transfer business is being splashed around the back pages, Sir Alex Ferguson took the rare step of confirming a bid that the Old Trafford club have made.
