The best-selling author Maeve Binchy was famous for her warm stories about life and love in Ireland and sold more than forty million books worldwide which were translated in to 30 languages. Maeve Binchy has died after a short illness aged 72.<\/h1>\n

Irish legendary writer Maeve Binchy has died peacefully in hospital on Monday, with her husband, children’s writer Gordon Snell, by her side. Maeve\u00a0Binchy penned sixteen novels and sold more than 40 million books worldwide during her career.<\/p>\n

Maeve Binchy trained as a teacher before moving into journalism and writing, publishing her first novel – Light a Penny Candle – in 1982. Irish author Binchy\u00a0had written the novel in her spare time from her day job as a journalist at The Irish Times.<\/p>\n

Jilly Cooper, the fellow novelist paid tribute, saying that Maeve Binchy was a natural storyteller. She said : ‘ Maeve Binchy\u00a0was a darling – I’m very, very sad.\u00a0She was so kind and funny and captivating, and was a brilliant writer. ‘<\/p>\n

Set during World War II and in the following years, it featured many elements that were to characterise Maeve Binchy’s work, life in small town Ireland, family relationships, humour and gripping plots. Author Maeve Binchy<\/span>\u00a0went on to publish many other novels and short story collections among them Circle of Friends and Tara Road both of which were adapted as feature films.<\/p>\n

Today fans and peers paid tribute to the star in thier thousands.<\/span><\/p>\n

Seamus Dooley, the Irish secretary of the National Union of Journalists, has said the author Maeve Binchy had been a life member of the union and had only recently written a special article about her association with it in The Journalist magazine.<\/p>\n

Most of Binchy’s fans saying Maeve Binchy was a woman of rare charm, warmth and generosity of spirit and hundreds of journalists have reason to be\u00a0grateful for her guidance and encouragement. Maeve Binchy was always available to young writers and at heart remained a teacher.<\/p>\n

In recent years Maeve Binchy continued to write despite being slowed down by arthritis and a heart ailment.\u00a0One of Maeve Binchy friend wrote\u00a0: ‘ I’m so so sad to hear that Maeve Binchy has died. She was so full of life, so funny, so interested in people, so kind and so good to all of us writers, who came after her. Maeve Binchy\u00a0was a beautiful generous person and a beautiful generous writer. ‘<\/p>\n

Some another Binchy’s fan has tweeted\u00a0: ‘ The world is truly a darker place without the golden light of lovely Maeve Binchy. We’ll all miss her genius. ‘\u00a0Also Irish President Michael D Higgins said he was deeply saddened by Maeve Binchy’s death.<\/p>\n

Mystery author Harlan Coben tweeted : ‘ I’m so sad to hear about the death of the wonderful, funny, talented, generous, endearing Maeve Binchy.<\/span><\/p>\n\n
