Alistair Brownlee on course for gold first British Triathlon Olympic Champion.<\/h1>\n

Alistair Brownlee became Great Britain’s first Olympic champion in triathlon with a brilliant performance in front of a huge crowd in Hyde Park while his brother Jonny picked up a bronze medal.<\/p>\n

Britain had never even won a medal in the sport before but Alistair went into the race as the defending champion and hot favourite having dominated triathlon over the last four years.<\/p>\n

He lived up to the billing and was able to slow down to collect a Union Jack and walk over the line with the flag draped around his shoulders.<\/p>\n

Alistair Brownlee is right on course for gold at the moment having opened up a five second gap on Javier Gomez going on to the final 2.5km lap. And if anything, that gap is getting bigger.<\/div>\n

Jonny Brownlee\u00a0is bearing right now and heading for the penalty box. He stands still, takes a quick breather and waits for the clock to tick down 15 seconds before running off again, still in third place ahead of French duo David Hauss and Laurent Vidal.<\/p>\n

Alistair Brownlee kicks ahead and Javier Gomez goes with him, but Jonny Brownlee is left behind. He’s six seconds back now and he hasn’t even served his time penalty yet.<\/p>\n

This is thrilling, inspiring, all those things. Alistair Brownlee is on the home straight and Jonny Brownlee is doing all he can in a bid to catch Gomez<\/p>\n
