Turkish Iranian Gas Pipeline sabotaged, Gazprom intervenes<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

28 Turkish soldiers were wounded as PKK terrorists blasted \u00a0Iranian-Turkish natural gas pipeline between the eastern provinces of A\u011fr\u0131 and Erzurum. Monopolostic Gazprom supplied Turkey immediately with more gas.<\/h1>\n

Erzurum \/ NationalTurk – The gas flow through a pipeline carrying Iranian natural gas to Turkey was halted after the explosives planted by PKK terror organisation were detonated at around 8:30 p.m. as patrolling Turkish soldiers were nearby.<\/p>\n

A fire broke out due to the explosion, but was subsequently extinguished after the flow of gas in the pipeline was cut off.<\/p>\n

Russia\u2019s Gazprom declared that the gas supply to Turkey had been increased following an official demand from Turkey\u2019s state-run pipeline company BOTA\u015e.<\/p>\n

Eastern Turkish province A\u011fr\u0131 Governor Mehmet Tekinarslan informed that wounded soldiers were immediately taken to hospital following the newest PKK attack.<\/p>\n

The injured Turkish military personel were transferred from Ele\u015fkirt Public Hospital to A\u011fr\u0131 Public Hospital, Tekinarslan stated.<\/p>\n

Only one soldier has been taken to a hospital in the neighboring Erzurum for third degree burns. \u201cThe injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment,\u201d the governor said, adding that they are reported to be in good condition.<\/p>\n

Tekinarslan also said the fire had been extinguished and that an operation had been launched in the region to apprehend the militants responsible for the blast.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe bomb was detonated by remote control as a vehicle transporting soldiers was passing by, and members of the military staff in charge of the security of the road were wounded. Most of the wounds are first-degree burns, and all wounded soldiers were taken to hospital after the attack. The one who is in a critical condition has been taken to an Erzurum hospital,\u201d Tekinarslan said.<\/p>\n

An announcement from Gazprom came swiftly after the blast on Iranian – Turkish gas pipeline. The transportation of the gas flow had been halted for an unknown period, BOTA\u015e had demanded that Russia increase the flow through the Blue Stream gas pipeline, which is designed to deliver Russian natural gas to Turkey across the Black Sea. Gazprom said the supply had been increased from 32 million cubic meters per day to 48 million cubic meters per day.<\/p>\n

“It is not yet clear when the sabotaged pipeline will resume transporting gas.<\/p>\n

The gas flow from Iran was also hindered earlier this month after an accidental explosion in eastern Turkey, but the gas transportion resumed a week later.<\/p>\n\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
