{"id":2776,"date":"2009-12-24T16:27:24","date_gmt":"2009-12-24T14:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/?p=2776"},"modified":"2009-12-24T16:27:24","modified_gmt":"2009-12-24T14:27:24","slug":"last-minute-shoppers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/last-minute-shoppers\/","title":{"rendered":"Last-minute shoppers boost sales"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Shoppers are snapping up festive bargains in a frenzy of Christmas Eve panic-buying.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/last-minute-shoppers.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-2777\" title=\"Last-minute shoppers boost sales\" src=\"http:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/last-minute-shoppers-280x201.jpg\" alt=\"Last-minute shoppers boost sales\" width=\"280\" height=\"201\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/last-minute-shoppers-280x201.jpg 280w, https:\/\/www.nationalturk.com\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/12\/last-minute-shoppers.jpg 382w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 280px) 100vw, 280px\" \/><\/a>Major retailers reported brisk business both on high streets and online as people made a flurry of last-minute purchases.<\/p>\n<p>Supermarkets were also packed with people stocking up on festive food.<\/p>\n<p>B&amp;Q, the home improvement and garden centre retailer, has started an online and in-store sale.<\/p>\n<p>Tesco began an online sale on Tuesday, with offers on furniture, homeware and sports products, followed by electrical items from 8pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Electrical specialist Comet predicted its website would attract a record 1,682,200 visitors over Thursday, Friday and Boxing Day, with a surge of bargain-hunters going online between 7pm and 9pm on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n<p>Department store Debenhams launched an online sale at 6am on Thursday, with doors open on Boxing Day at 7am for the in-store sales.<\/p>\n<p>It was estimated that more than 13 million people would make a late dash to the shops.<\/p>\n<p>Cabot Circus, Bristol&#8217;s newest shopping centre which opened in September last year, was cautiously optimistic about festive trade this year.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Belt, director of the \u00a3500 million city centre development, said the mall had half a million visitors last week.<\/p>\n<span style=\"font-weight: bold; color: #f00;\">Error, group does not exist!
